Saturday was the night for the Eurovision Song Contest! For those of you who've never seen it, it's a pan-European TV event where the countries of Europe each enter a song. Traditionally it's something of a kitsch-fest, something highlighted in Britain by the ascerbic comments of our commentator, Terry Wogan. This year was a definite improvement however, with many acts trying something different - UK's entry was a middle-aged rapper surrounded by girls in school uniform - and the winners were Finnish heavy rockers in monster costumes - great. My personal favourite was the German country music act, but it got nowhere. Whatever. It's always an evening for much hilarity, good food and plenty of drink.
