I contacted my bank via online chat and asked how to change my name. They immediately emailed me a form via their secure message system. I filled in the old & new names & signatures, put in the Reason field “Transition to a woman”, scanned it with my phone and sent it to them. Within a couple of hours, I got an email that started:
“Dear Lucy Berry,
Thank you for your reply and congratulations on your transition. I can confirm that your name has been updated in our system. New debit and credit cards have been mailed to the address on file and should arrive within 7-10 business days. Your existing cards will continue to work until your new ones are activated. You will be able to activate using the phone number provided.”
And sure enough, my account name is now “Lucy Amanda Berry”. So well done Michigan State University Federal Credit Union. 10/10, A+. Bank of America take note.
