This is the poem i have been trying to eek out. It took a bit, I'm not so talented at writing "happy" poems, since they mostly turn out sounding corny and dumb and I want to rip them up later. So I think this expresses it well enough, still maintaining my usualy level of um inner turmoil? whatever. Rob liked it anyways...He said it was accurate. He also said other things that were very sweet, too. oh gush gush hahahaha
My Biggest Non-Mistake:
to Rob...
Eyes pan around the bar's dance floor
And for the night, settles on the door
What the hell did she come here for?
She only feels ugly and alone.
A boy with angel kisses on either cheek
Feels his heart skip a beat
When his friend says, "I'd like you to meet"
And he doesn't forget her name.
His job has written itself across cut up hands
He's felt life blows, knows where he stands
And now he's looking for just one chance
To get to know this girl.
He sees her strength
When she only feels weak.
He sees her courage
When she wants to retreat.
He sees her conviction
When she only feels doubt.
He wants to move in closer
She panics, only wants out.
Months pass by with more of the same,
He tries to get in, she pushes away
But he is determined, decides to stay
Though it pains to see her do this to herself:
The failed relationships, a quiet mess
Floundering to keep afloat, to keep her breath
Shaking from pills meant to relieve the stress
Dreams filled with closed doors and dying.
This just isn't a life worth living
She's tired of giving and giving
So she's going back to the beginning
The time to start over is now.
Sometimes he's a friend; sometimes he's a lover
Sometimes things aren't so easily defined...
But eventually, all the patience pans out,
It all sinks into place over time.
He's her biggest non-mistake to date, to date
Feet pound the August pavement and she feels great
The world rushes by and she just can't wait
To be inside his arms.
She wasn't ready when they first met
She hadn't faced enough of her demons yet
But now she's so glad that he stayed and kept
On believing in her when she couldn't
There were days before when she only felt dead
Thoughts spun like tornadoes inside her head
But now instead of the fear and the dread
She finally feels like she's home.
