OK: two great sic-fi masterpieces:
1. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick. Do yourself a favor and read the original novel which Blade Runner was based on. It touches on many more topics and emotions than the film. It is also more touching, humorous, and much more intelligent.
2. Solaris, the 1972 film directed by Andrei Tarkovsky. (based on a novel by Stanislaw Lem). Not the more recent remake starring George Clooney. There is also real intelligence in this film that won't be found in the remake. I don't want to spoil it, but it is the stuff the intelligent sic-fi and classic literature are all made of.
If you think Blade Runner is a classic movie, which it is, you owe it to yourself to read the novel that is also a classic of literature.
And if you like intelligent films and sic-fi, Solaris from 1972 will satisfy you. It presents the BIG questions of life and leaves you thinking and with a new perspective on it all. And you will never think of the planet SOlaris, or Planet Earth the same way again.
