I'm listening to Pearl Jam. Alive. Great song by a great band. Takes me back. One of those bands that has had a big impact on me, and helped me process and understand a lot of things. Music really helps us in so many profound ways. I wonder why that is. And a hundred people can listen to a song and interpret it a hundred different ways.
Listening to Pearl Jam reminds me of growing up in Rockford, MN; it reminds me of people I knew back then, stupid shit I did, where we were in our lives (early teens up to early twenties). I have to smile when I look back now. God, I see what they mean when they say those were more innocent times. Our biggest concerns were what was going on within our social groups, people we had crushes on, and where to score some weed. I remember all the times I'd slip out to smoke up and grab a cigarette and try to slip it past my parents. Ha! Not that they were all such great times, but there's something about reminiscing that just makes me smile.
And nowadays I'm finding people on Facebook (or they're finding me) who I haven't thought about in 10 years or more. Gotta love the social networking-sphere.
But anyway, listening to Pearl Jam reminds me of us all starting different bands as kids. We were all going to be rock stars. Good times, good times . . .
