As Dr. Niles Crane on the popular NBC sitcom Frasier, which ran from 1993 to 2004, David Hyde Pierce was a paragon of gentility. However in his latest project, the independent movie The Perfect Host, he gets to embrace a far darker side of his psyche.

At first Warwick Wilson (played by Pierce) appears to be the epitome of civility and the consummate dinner party...

Had the privilege of watching a dress rehearsal for the Ballet Nacional de Cuba's production of Don Quixote, which opened at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in DTLA this evening.

It's the first time the company has performed in the US since their 2003 tour when five members defected.

It's very telling 8 years on, that on this tour no dancer has defected to the...

That is a bad sign.

Beautiful video.
hor:

Neat-o. But was it as good as Wishbone's production?

As long as it's not obviously criminal or glaringly hypocritical I just don't care about what politicians do in their private lives. And I agree with Ms. Maddow that giving in to media pressure here is a huge mistake. If, as ChrisSick mentioned above, there are issues not being discussed here that may shed a less savory light on things, then maybe what they are doing is just damage control, but I'm not convinced that is the case and it seems like it may just be a big deal made about nothing.

Tea Party favorite and pizza mogul Herman Cain has a revolutionary idea for when he becomes president. If elected, he promises to make sure all bills that are passed are short.

Really short.

Like, three pages or less.

Source = Care2

OMG, I think this is a totally rad idea. Also, I think they should all be illustrated - in color - and written in...

My thought on Weiner is that he is a very busy man. Like most, although not all, politicians, he probably spends a great deal of time going to meetings, raising campaign funds and seizing upon every opportunity to remind people of how great he is as a public servant and a human being. It's exhausting. He exists under a constant pressure cooker of self-analysis and...

I'm with MDF on that one.

I'd have to agree with MDF too. It's unfortunate that people's private lives are put under this kind of scrutiny.

There's nothing pretty about coal mining at the best of times, but mountaintop removal mining is downright obscene. The process is ugly in every sense of the word, but is less labor intensive, and therefore cheaper and more desirable for the big energy corps who do it. However the hidden expense in terms of the environment, public health, employment, and subsidies mean that it's something...

On the surface, The Last Mountain is a documentary about the dirty business of coal, the highly destructive and toxic practice of mountaintop removal mining, and one community's fight to preserve their homes, their livelihoods, their health, and the last great mountain in the region. However, the story of Coal River Mountain in West Virginia is allegorical of much that is wrong with America, which...
