NYC Fest was a bust. Apparently, after few years in existence, no matter how legitimate the organization seems, they always tend to do what people expect, and that isn't always the right thing. After being told by the promoter we'd likely make the finals, we didn't even make the notable list - and it was one of our best shows EVER. We made notables last year... at our debut show.
It's snowing in NYC. Why? Halloween hasn't even happened yet. Can't dress up and run around the Halloween parade if the snow... this isn't Canada...
Speaking of Halloween: to my fellow NY-ers, if you're out and about on Hallow's Eve in or near the parade, be sure to look for 3 guys wearing very simple wolf masks with a few friends and cameras in tow. We (my band) are shooting some B-roll for a video of our cover of Duran Duran's Hungry Like the Wolf. If you see us - COME GET IN THE VIDEO! For reals - we'd love to put you in the video, just be prepared to work on a guerrilla-style shoot.
Gots a show on the lower east side coming up in a few weeks that I might shamelessly push on here. And a new band that plays more Americana, rootsy, "old-timey" sorta music. We have a mandolin/banjo/guitar-slinging singer, me on guitars and backing vox, and a piano playing backup vocalist. Quite the departure from the hard rock effrontery of my baby Soundspeak. Doubtful this blog will go without some sort of self-push when it comes time for a show with that troop.
Later gators.
