I really loathe social networks and what they've become. It doesn't make people closer, it just gives them an excuse to not contact you directly. It allows people to project a polished impractical version of their lives (if they so choose) ... and I notice that anyone who decides to be real is somehow damaged and undesirable. (Unless you're already extremely successful or beautiful in which case the sentiments and attention come flying in).
The new algorithms support those that don't need more exposure. The sfs phenomenon would be cute if it wasn't just "miss 600k" sharing "miss 1.5m" ....art sharing pages charge for a feature... greed.... vanity... capitalism.
But what do you do when you're at the bottom?
When you can't afford to pay to promote your art. When you don't live in an exotic exciting place. When you don't like dropping everything... making everyone stop what they're doing so that you can document the occasion in an awkward group photo.
What do you do when you see all of it for what it is... loathe the needy nature of it all but realize that it's the only way people are going to see your work... which you need to build a clientele.... So you can eat?
I know I'm doing it wrong. I'm trying.... just not getting anywhere.
