Hmm,,,

OK so the NME profile appeared today, and despite the hyperbole it's pretty sweet. There's a pic of me there with my cat Betty.

Well Betty has gone missing, and to be honest, I'm pretty gutted about it. "MISSING CAT" posters go up tomorrow. Gutted. Betty, sweetie, if you're reading... don't be dead. Just let me know. Tell me you just found someone with better catfood and I'll understand.

Other stuff...

My mum is moving back from South Africa. I'm really happy about this, but a bit concerned that she's still a bit rudderless. Does anyone else have a Mum who still can't work out what she wants to do with her life? It's an odd thing to have to worry about... shouldn't it be the other way around?

I have lots of gigs and clubs coming up. They're on my myspace so I won't bore anyone with them here. nick's myspace

What else? My sister arrives on Sunday, and I'm very excited. When my life turned to shit last year she sorted me out, and without her... well I'd probably be back in Dublin and probably still feeling sorry for myself. She is also all sorts of amazing things, very complex and talented, and I'll be having a truly amazing time once she gets here.

I have a crush on a girl who knows I have a crush on her. It's doomed and that's okay. It could have been something but it's not. I haven't had a proper crush on ANYONE in a big long time [years, if I'm honest], so this is BIG NEWS, even if it's not big time lovetastic heartache or anything. It could be amazing but sadly it's a big pile of nothing, and that's that. c'est la vie. She and I are both under orders to get over it. Pinky promise.

If my account runs out soon it won't be reactivated in any hurry. You guys are amazing but I am ridiculously shit broke, or rather my company is, and I've got to work very hard to bail its ass out. Mind you, I made 30something quid in tips tonite, so perhaps if I just get the shifts i won't be in such dire straits after all. Here's hoping.

Sorry but there's a lot I could be saying here, but I can't find a way to say it. Something about the girl and the thing that wasn't a thing, and I don't fucking know but it's cool, but it's also eating at me. grr.

Oh here's some decent news: my band is going really well! We're got 5 tunes totally finished, and we'll have them tight and gig-ready within a few weeks. I reckon we're nearly set for a wee tidy support slot. Whatever band gets our support will br pretty lucky I think because between the members of the band we know a pretty massive amount of Edinburgh's club/gig goers.

What I might not have said about the band:
We've been listening to: the kills // fela kuti // erol alkan remixes // liars // celebration // DFA1979 and 10 tonnes of club music.
We sound: a bit too guitar based for out liking, but we're sorting it out.
We have ladies in the band. Hot ladies. And they're in charge thank you.
We drink plenty of red wine durin gour rehearsals. It seems to help.
I'm actually just a bit surprised at how good we sound. This isn't ego, I actually thought it would be turgid, but we worked out where we wanted to be, and we're getting there really fast. In fact, I'm shocked.
Oh and I'm still rubbish at drums after all! but again... I'm working on it!
