So I’m sure that nobody was completely satisfied with the series finale for Game of Thrones, but something occurred to me earlier that may not make up for the short season and rushed storytelling, but may just put a smile on your face.
During one of the final scenes there was a reference made (inadvertently or on purpose, you decide) to a movie that would unlikely because of their differences in genre. We see the new members of the “Small Council” gathered together for the first time to discuss how to start rebuilding King’s Landing. The newly knighted Sir Brienne of Tarth suggests that building new ships to replace the lost fleet should be the first priority. Sir Bronn of the Blackwater suggests that the brothels be a higher priority. The scene ends with them arguing their points with each other. Or as the proprietors of Prestige Worldwide would put it, they are arguing over “boats and hoes”. There was a reference made to the song from the movie StepBrothers in one of the final scenes of Game of Thrones. I have not stopped laughing since this thought came to me earlier. If this was done on purpose, it is the most brilliant reference in the history of entertainment. If it was inadvertent, it is the happiest of accidents in the history of entertainment. Mind blown.
