First:
Hope to see SG Montrealers at the SG burlesque tonight.
Same as my current events post:
Please don't vote Conservative. Please please please!
Stephen Harper and his wrecking crew are really giving me bad nightmares. He basically stands against a lot of social improvements that have been hard to achieve in the last few years.
A few fun facts about the PC crew (Harper first):
-Harper gave his full support to Rob Anders, a Calgary-West conservative which declared in 2001 that Nelson Mandela is "a communist and terrorist." This statement by Mr Anders came as Nelson Mandela was nominated as an honorary canadian citizen.
-Harper said that biliguism is a failure of God. Now what the hell does that mean? It does sound terribly xenophobic though.
-Let's not forget about his stand against Kyoto. Not only would he withdraw Canada from a signed treaty, but it could jeopardize Kyoto altogether considering how fragile this treaty is without support from the US or Russia.
Let's not forget about Stockwell Day, the #2 guy in this great crew:
-Commented "I want to know how many women in Alberta are physically beaten, not only insulted by their husband. If we are only talking about insulted women, well I'm afraid of being guilty once and then of asbuse on my wife..." when questionned about a study about women abuse at home.
-Commented that the presentation of gay leaders to Alberta political leaders was an "...offense to God...".
-And my favorite is when he said that "Homosexualit is a mental disorder that can be cured by therapeutic ways".
-Let's not forget when he suggested to throw a kid that commited a murder in an adult jail so that prisoners could take care of him in ways we do not have the courage to enforce.
Random facts from other crew members:
Ricardo Lopez saying that all aboriginals/natives should be sent to Labrador so we could live in peace and they could leave in peace.
Philip Mayfield supporting indifference in cases of torture and jailing of women refusing to wear the traditional clothes of certain countries.
Myron Thompson stating that we should lower the age to 10 years old regarding when a child should be tried as an adult.
Louis-Hbert Lonce Roy saying that the old Alliance party didn't have many female candidates because it's a hard for a lot of husbands to lend that much money to their spouse.
Rob Anders suggesting that new immigrants should not have a right to vote.
Larry Spencer seeing homosexuality has a "very well orchestrated" recruiting conspiracy that affects the kids in the schools. And then concluding that it had been an error to legalize homosexuality anyways.
I'm sure there's a lot more, but I'm tired of typing and searching.
That's why I hope YOU 1-will vote 2-not conservative.
