I wanted to share with you guys something that I am very passionate about! My pigs! Kevin specifically. Both of them are indoor pigs, spoiled rotten, house broken, crate trained and Kevin is a trick master. Rosie is lazy.
Kevin is my rock and best therapist. I have had him since he was about 9 weeks old (he will be 3 in May) and was given to me by an old co-worker who washed him daily with dog shampoo so he came to me with terribly dried out, cracked and bleeding skin. He recovered from that with some daily coconut oil massages but retained his hatred for water till this day. He gets a ārealā bath a few times in the summer but thatās aboit it. If you heard the noises he made you wouldnāt give a shit about a little dirt either š¤·š»āļø He loves to be hugged (by me) and kissed on his snout. Loves having his face held while I scratch his chin and kiss his fat cheeks. He is my shadow. Particularly when I am having a bad day. He will always choose to lay beside me (probably in hopes I will scratch his belly-which I always do!) He is mischievous as all hell and will challenge some of the dogs at times to keep rank but I wouldnāt change him for the world. Kevin made me understand what true unconditional love is all about and was the main reason for me giving up meat (I canāt say I am 100% committed vegetarian yet as I still eat chicken on occasion). Especially any kind of pork products. My husband thinks heās an ass because he barely listens to him because he is so used to taking direction from me that he chooses to not listen to anyone else. Kevin knows a handful of trick and has been to a few elementary school fundraisers to strut his stuff and get snacks from all the kids. He loves enrichment and training and knows his shit! Most importantly he has filled a gap after the loss of my big dog a little over two years ago. He gave me something to focus on and nurture while I was grieving the loss of an amazing family dog, who much like Kevin, was always by my side. Anyone who says pigs are not smart or are dirty, have never met a fixed indoor pig. They are JUST like dogs just easier to train in my opinion!
Rosie(black pig) on the other hand is an undermined age (Maybe around 3?) and my husband and I adopted her from the animal shelter last year. She was sick for the first few months with had her with a URI. We got her passed that and she has occasional allergies but is otherwise healthy. She can be a real asshole until she wants something so that is how we make progress. She is no Kevin. She is not motivated to work for food and often walks away if I try so she does not do trick. She just lives amongst us and occasionally bullies the small dogs. Since we got her as an adult, she is pretty set in her ways but still makes progress here and there. Kevin lets me do anything to him and I pretty much have to sweet talk her into anything I want her to do and if sheās not happy about something, you.will.know.
I can go on and on but I will stop here. A lot of people ask me about Kevinās name and the family friendly version is āKevin Baconā but he was actually named after āKevin the Cuntā which is a goat. Look it up on youtube! He often gets spoken to with an Australian accent when heās being a naughty boy š
