I really wish it was sunny out today. All this rain is depressing. But I'm tryin to keep my spirits up with tidying up the house....not that I find that fun, just the end results make me happy.
Happiness is something I'm working on constantly. I figured out a big part of my problem though and since I have, I've been much more content. I spend far too much time being jealous of what other people have, I forget to realize how good I've got it. No doubt I've led a kinda rough life but that doesnt mean I haven't been blessed with many things to be thankful for. So now everytime I start getting mad or sad that my life sucks, I focus on why my life is awesome.
One thing that I tend to dwell on that makes me upset is how tiny and unfunctional our house is. So now instead of feeling sorry for myself, I am trying to remedy the situation. Our kitchen is too small with very little counter space and it has a dining room attached that we never use. So we are going to sell our dining room table (since it's in great condition) and extend the kitchen into there. Ideally I would like to have cabinets or an island lined along the back wall, I have some great cabinets from my Mom to hang up in there already, then I'd like to install and kitchen bar/table thing across the opening obviously leaving a doorwayish wide area to walk through that way people would have a place to eat too.
Also I'm saving up for a stackable washer and dryer. Ours are going out. Sometimes the washer bangs so hard that it starts moving across the bathroom and the dryer takes 1 1/2 - 2 hrs to dry clothes. So they're needed but it will also create more room in the bathroom (which like most of the house is pretty tiny). Anyways, my plan for the bathroom is to remove the 18 thousand wall cabinets (seriously they line every wall Iunno why someone would need so many fucking cabinets in the bathroom) and then we'll put the washer n dryer on one side instead of being on both sides like they are now. Then we can turn the nook that holds the dryer into a linen closet which is waaaaaay more functional than these lil cabinets making our bathroom really a lot more functional. Ideally, I would really like a deeper tub installed in there too but I don't even know how to go about removing and installing that shit so that may not ever happen. It's just that I love taking relaxing baths and the water doesn't even cover my belly in our current tub. I do think I'd like open shelving for misc shit in there cuz I think it will make the bathroom look bigger than the cabinets in there now.
So far that's my current plan for the house. There is a lot more that needs to be done like a new roof and we need to decided if we're gonna get 50K to fix our basement...I think we should but it all depends on shit. I don't even know why I'm babbling on about this here but that's okay. I wish we had some friends around here that were handy and could help us with this shit, but we'll make due. Subby and I are pretty fuckin smart and capable. I really think we could turn this tiny house of nonsense into a tiny but functional house and be quite happy here. Just a bit of elbow grease and imagination.
Yeah

Congratulations!!
I've been meaning to ask - what do you do anyway? I mean, just what kind of work, you don't have to tell me the company or anything like that.
