They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, however this could have been just a case of bad translation. It could have been "Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder", which means delving into that little green genie, which I am not going to do.
The point is this. It is very obvious in some cases i.e., if you are a astronaut and all of a sudden your little lowest bidder gauge for you oxygen reaches the "E" part of the scale, I am pretty sure your heart would be pretty fond of oxygen right about then.
However there are bad things that are out there that I personally am not that fond of; plagues of locusts, Earth killing asteroids, odd communicable diseases, old roommates... you know stuff you generally fear the sound or mention of. The absence of these things however has yet to engender any type of fondness. Now granted everyone wishes for the occasional earth killing asteroid, but usually only after a real bad day at the office, and finding your car stolen by a rampaging group of escaped mutant squirels..ok maybe that was a little too specific.
So anyway just remember that not all things are meant to fit all cases. Absence does make the heart grow fonder - but only for things you were fond of to begin with - "void in Tennessee, Alaska, and Puerto Rico"
Just remember, no one ever said "Half the fun is getting there." when they were traveling with a pack of rabid heroin addicted llamas.
