okay third book is out in another two weeks - this one is very very very dark
here are some bits and pieces
"Certainly there is no hunting like the hunting of man and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never really care for anything else thereafter."
-Ernest Hemingway
Fair Trade
for # five
You exchanged life
For my knife
Not since the Indians and the beads
Has there been less of a deal
I see your face each day while I shave
Feeling the scar you left
Across my right check
Hidden by the years and weight
You fought with all your might
Screaming and kicking
Biting while crying
Hoping it was a play fight
I buried my blade
In the middle of your chest
So deeply, it had to stay
And lay with you in your final rest
In the distance of the years
Nearly 5000 days of holding back the tears
Still you haunt, each night
I still think it was a Fair Trade
Spoils
for # thirty three
You are much stronger
Than you appeared
Yet we both sense the results
Still we must go thru the motions
Your power,
Is no match
Your will to live
Is truly astounding
It will be a privilege
To end things for you
Finally an enemy
With a fiery heart
As we near the end
You surprise me
By pulling a third knife out
This one from your boot
My mood shifts from
Admiration to aggravation
I turn the blade on you
Burrowing it into your left eye
With a single
Blow
I crush
Your windpipe
It stops
The screaming
It will be over
In a few seconds
I check your pockets
Rummage your gear
I am happy
To find
Clean socks and
A candy bar
To the victor
Go the spoils
