Hair today, gone tomorrow . . .
OKso the hair stylist hacked off a ton of my hair (it wasn't really her faultI just asked for more than I realized). And because I never know what I'm asking for when I get a hair cut, never know things like what the effects of my genetically inherited too-too thick hair will do when it's shorter, I...

So...I posted a long update, full of links and other things at my other journal:

And I'm too tired to go through that again.

Well...
...it's not every day that you find out your mom is wanted in Mexico...
Weird.
In other news, while all of you were sleeping last night, I was trying to figure out what font a fallen angel would talk in.

Indeed. It's really the only way a fallen angel font COULD look!
Heh. I've studied the goddess mythologies of the world for years now, and I've seldom found any di- or tri-chotomous female deity I didn't like. Kali's image is definitely one of the more imposing, however!

HA! She'd have your head for a comment like that.
Tomorrowthat is to say, today, I get to go to Chicago and meet with my would-be artist for my epic poem (she apparently already has some work done). She even said she does medieval letter heads.

I like your picture and username. You also have some great interests. We should chat some time.

Lenore is beautiful.
I posted a bit more of my epic poem on my MySpace page. Just click if you want to read (the formatting would be a pain to replicate here).
So...is it just me...or does the guy on the E-Harmony.com comercials creep anyone else out.

Sunday, I think the monkey and I will be at the Shedd Aquarium. I'm excited; haven't been out there for a while!
So I've had a few people mention interest in reading my thesis. It's still very roughso I think I will, instead, fiendishly place little bites and excerpts of it, in the journal, for those who are interested. There is a certain magic to things our of context.
OK so if you're just tuning in, I wrote an epic poem. It's about a voodoo priestess, Mama...

You know, I was thinking about it...I think it was in a Madeleine L'Engle novel that I read a passage about angels being quite frightening in appearance. Did you read those?
And have you read "Murder Mysteries" by Neil Gaiman?
Anyway. It is indeed an interesting idea. I would think that angels WOULD be frightening, because of the sheer power involved...Angels are creatures of air/spirit, humans of earth, and the djinn of fire, after all. We're all complementary, but very different.

Did you check out the illustrated version of Murder Mysteries? It's great...I could have asked for slightly more detailed artwork in a few places, but overall, I think the style suits nicely.
Well, that's pretty awesome. Keep me updated on your plans!

Welltime for a short rest.
I sent the last of the first draft. I kind of compromised it a bit, condensed it so that I could have something to turn in. So its kind of like my prototype epic poem. My model-T epic poem.
Even so, in total, it is 266 pages.

Dispair or Something Like It
I got stuck. I choked. Realistic expectations told me I couldnt get all the pages done by dawn. Practical concerns drowned out my voice. I thought I lost my talent. I thought maybe I never had any. I found it difficult to breathe. Then I put on a pirate hat. Felt silly.
Its helping

Strong to the Finish?
Im fading fast
and its past three in the A.M.
and I still have dozens of pages to write
and I think Im staring at my double fisted cans of PEPSI
the way Popeye might look at a can of spinach, after getting his ass kicked.
