Sorry I haven't updated this for a while. I've just had other things to do with work and school. I probably won't be around much for another couple of weeks still. School end's around the 8th and hopefully I'll have more time to waste my time on here at that point.
Today I'm finally starting to feel a little bit better. Everyone down in the city was sick, and then when I got back everyone at work was sick so I really had no way of avoiding catching what was going around. Since last Thursday I've been feeling awful. What I thought was a sinus infection turned out to be just a virus of sorts, but... Read More
yuck. glad to hear you're doing better - whatever you had sounded pretty unpleasant. to diverge: on some level, i'd rather be vomiting then have a head cold/sinus kind of thing. i feel like if i'm gonna throw up - i'm legitimately sick and can do things like stay home & sleep. i feel like such a weenie when i have a cold & act so pathetic

Well the past week has been pretty eventful I suppose. Last week was spent working for the most part. Trying to catch up on my bills a little bit to get through the rest of the semester.
I went down to Brooklyn on the weekend to hang out with my brother and his family. I was fortunate to make it out of there without getting... Read More
i have to totally agree w/you that old pulp novels have the best art ... if i were to have a cool office, i'd love to have like pulp art reproductions on my wall. (how sick is that? - i want to decorate an *office*?)
i always get a kick out of those date books & address books that have all the pulp art in them ...
Once I saw my history teacher at a club. She was dressed pretty goth. The whole experiance was just awkward.
It's always nice to take a trip. Even if the party your visiting is ill. Hope your family gets better.
The parliment show was ok last night. I'm still kind of hung over. Saw some folks from school and it was a good time. I was a bit disappointed in the music though. For a band that's been together in various forms for forty years you'd think they could play more then 7 or 8 tunes in 3 hours. They didn't play much of their... Read More
the munstesrs have the better theme song? come on - the addams snaps? how can you beat that?!?!?
sorry your show wasn't all you had hoped it would - that always a bit of suck. but it sounds like you had a pretty good time, all & all. so that's good to hear at least (drinking, friends - that can never be that bad right?)
It's been a while since I've updated so I thought I'd toss up a few quick words. My finaid has pretty much run dry so I'm putting in as many hours at work as I can which means I don't have as much time for fiddling around on SG as I previously had.
Parliment show is this Friday so that should be a good time... Read More
yea, you're right that there is not much of a connection between body size & politics. there is precious little written on it. more stuff in psychology, quite a bit in gender studies. but very little traditional political science on it. i got a prof (who taught this course) that is writing a book on it; he's trying to beat the curve: figures it's gonna get big, wants to have one of the first books on the topic. academics is weird like that: a strange combo of pursuing your passion & trying to hit something that'll catch. it's like being in a band, but w/less chicks...hehehe
i thought your observation that we are turning into extremes in terms of body type (thin or quite plump) is interesting. it would be intriguing to test it - compare across time. at a gut level - i'd bet your onto something. it seems very american doesnt it? we don't have political extremes - but we do take our habits (dieting, drinking, eating) to extremes quite like no one else. or at least, that's my impression - which could very easily be way off.
Not a hell of a lot has been happening lately. Trying to get work done for school as well as working with a professor on a couple of my own works. Big exam in metaphysics next week which I should do well on, although I have serious reservations about anything metaphysical, in fact the more I read the more pragmatic I become and I'm beginning... thanks for the good luck wishes - the conference was pretty good. the conference part was just ok. the seeing my friends & drinking beer & eating sushi part was great! hehehe
Wow, I found out a couple of days ago that Dennis Lehane, the guy who wrote Mystic River teaches at the University of S.Maine grad school. That's pretty fucking cool. I'm now rethinking where I want to go when I'm done undergrad, might as well just stay here if the school is good.
Ok, so I'm in a bit of trouble I think. Last night as I was having a beer with my closest friend and his girlfriend, both I've known for over ten years, it occured to me that despite denying it over the years I have some strong feelings for his girlfriend. In fact he was the one who alerted me to this fact a few... Read More
Well I was pissed off that my professor would have us pass in our second paper of the semester before giving back our first. The reason being I hate not having comments or any idea what to do to improve the second paper because the first one is not back or graded yet. I got them both back yesterday though and got a B+ on... Read More
