I have successfully installed and am reasonably satisfied with the performance of Fedora Core 1 Linux on my second machine. (It still has Windows XP on a separate hard disk, but I have to actuallly change the ATA/IDE cable to use it. I don't intend to do that. I'll probably end up formatting that one for additional space for this machine once I've figured out what to do with it. Anyway, I would advise this version to anyone brave enough to move away from Windows to try Linux. It's on the disc that comes with Linux for Dummies, and it's not too hard to install and configure. I'm just beginning to understand some of the basics, though, and I know I have hours of frustration ahead of me. It will be fun, learning something new, radically different and very powerful. I'm excited. I am eager to figure out how to access files with a straight-forward file manager. I'm working on it. It's fucking hot here right now, and I hate it. Already. As usual, straight from winter to summer, with about a week of spring. Hell, I guess it was longer than recent years when I wore a heavy jacket on the last day of winter (somewhere around April 20) and sunblock every day until September 20, when I got out the heavy jacket and the beanies again. Wow, this is really a nice typeface, man. The site looks different, nicer, to me on this Linux box compared to my Win XP box. Weird. Anyway, I'm doing ok as I plod plod plod through my daily journeys. Cheers to ya.
