Well we FINALLY got a decent night out for a Saturday!
After doing some thrift store 50% off day hunting, we found this pretty kick-ass vintage NAPA auto parts supply cabinet out of steel that should make a great garden/patio organizer for only $17! Then ran all over the place for gardening stuff and finally cleaned the Saturn we've been borrowing.
Then, it was off to the Desert Dolls Roller Derby match between the Cosmic Killas (The team captain of which is a friend of mine, and the bench coach the lovely lady who is lending us the Saturn until we replace our car) and the Pretty H8 Machines! VERY exciting to see over 800 people turn out to watch the event, and it was action packed with scantily clad women bashing each other around. But a disturbing pattern arose: Points were being changed on the scoreboard 10 minutes after being added, fouls were being called out of no where on the Cosmic Killas, and the lead skater of the opposing team outright HIT a ref and got in their face about it, and only got a 2 minute time out and not ejected for the rest of the game like the regs said! There were holds and even throws made by the Pretty H8 Machine players, and the scores were getting even more arbitrary. Finally in the end, the Cosmic Killas did 'win', but when we finally got home, even the league's official Facebook Feed claimed the H8 Machines were the winners, and posted a FALSE score! Talk about a match rigged to the bitter end!
Now, I was supposed to design a sound system and run the audio aspects of their bouts before I lost my job, but after seeing how crooked the match was, I don't think it would be in my best professional interest to ever offer services to them without getting a hard cash payment first. They bill themselves as a sports league, and I happen to know for a fact that there is tension between the Team Captain of the Killas and some in charge of that league. Whether or not this equates to a rigged match, it's hard to say... but it sure looked crooked to me! Pretty sad considering it's supposed to be fun....
But, after the excitement and drama of that match, we then ran all the way across 3 cities to Mesa to see a band made up of some friends that Delores knows named "Mission G". Sort of a melodic metal a la Korn that wasn't too bad! A member of staff got cut up pretty bad in the pit when he landed on a pint glass and had to be taken to hospital, but no aggro moments. The music wasn't bad, but I usually don't listen to Metal so my opinion could be totally baseless. Hung out with some of her friends, and then headed home with Jack In The Box in tow.
All in all, a very good day. Tired, no voice and a bit sore from other medical stuff but a good day. Tomorrow is not much of anything, and that's ok. All weekend courtesy of my hard working fiance, who without this we wouldn't have the scratch to do any of this!

What an awful headache about RenFair & Comic Con. Dude that is so bullshit. And then the job hunting & that fucked up boycott. Love the law or not it's not fair to bankrupt an already dying economy.
