Notes from the Ether: Entry 1
Can the actions of a small group truly be analogous to society, can the reprehensible decisions of a few accurately approximate the behavior of those who have committed the greatest evils of recorded history?
I am so tired of philosophical excuses, worn out, trite escapes from culpability, all to often in the name of someone, some thing, some idea that should stand higher than the personal short comings of man, but in the end we remove them from their place on high and put them to work. Nothing like dirtying a beautiful idea like a common tool.
Images flow from this line of thought; of shadows growing, fingers scraping, voices trembling, tiny eyes blanket in dark, in secret, the need to run, to hide, to protect, stand, fight,
yet what good comes of this, where does it lead, for creating is as much about where you are taking an idea as where it came from. The composition is now, but there is the inspiration and the consequence.
Lately I can not seem to write, perhaps I am too caught up in the implications of creating, perhaps too much in the process. I see good to be done from the creative endeavor everywhere, but I also see that which has been created being misappropriated, mocked or tossed to the unremembered past without the slightest hesitation. Is there nobility to be found in creating dispute this or is it pure folly?
I don't expect many, if any, to read this, and I apologize to those who do; I simply need a place to get ideas out where I do not feel like I am simply typing to forget. Perhaps being in a public forum will force me to resolve some things that are standing in my way at the moment. Please, if you do read this and can contribute, please do; perhaps my clarity lies in the words of another.
