So, we're obviously a huge tattoo appreciating community as it is. But I though I'd write my own little guide for maybe some of you reading that haven't yet bit the bullet!
Choosing your tattoo;
The hardest part of the whole process really is deciding what you want. I'm not one of those people who will tell you your tattoos HAVE to mean something, far from it. In fact this entire thing is coming from someone with a permanent Lego Stormtrooper on them 💁
So, if you've got a meaningful idea which you'd love to have on you forever, do it. Or just chosen something you really like from a flash, internet, or t.v. what ever, go for it!
Choosing your artist!
This is the most vital step! You've got to chose someone safe, that you can trust, and who is properly trained! Start looking at local artists portfolios, the studios they work at, and the reviews and licenses the premises hold. Going into the studio shouldn't give you a bad vibe! Have a chat with the artists about your design, their thoughts on placement, time, cost, aftercare. Answer every little question you have, it's important to feel reassured! Once you've found the right artist. Get yo' self booked in!
Be prepared to pay a deposit too!
The night before your tattoo sitting;
Don't drink any alcohol - not only is it illegal it thins your blood, and you'd probably feel like crap the next morning.
Keep hydrated - it's just important, okay?
Get a good nights rest - Trust me, its much better when you've got a good nights sleep behind you. You'll feel better for it.
Before your session and getting it done;
Make sure you've eaten! It's important to keep your bloody sugars up!
Wash! I can't imagine it's very nice to be tattooing a smelly person!
Bring a sugary snack, drink, some headphones, charger cable etc.
Have your ID ready to scan if you're on the younger side! You'll need this for the artist
Fill out the consent form! Truthfully!
Double check the design! If there's anything you want changing, speak up!
Don't be worried about asking for a break! If you need one just say!
And do as you're told!

Aftercare;
As for this it's important to listen exactly what your artist suggests, and copy it to the 'T' they know best! Many may suggest different things, just again do as your told!
If you have any issues at all head straight back to the artist so they can answer your questions and help out if you need it!
