hey, remember the time the power went out for days? oh wait, yeah, that was this week.
columbus has once again proved that it has no real system for dealing with natural disasters of any kind. it was pretty well illustrated in march when we had the snow storm and everyone was homebound for three or four days because the streets couldn't be cleared. once again, the city has decided to shine in the sense that the power was out for at least three days up to nearly a week in some places. from sunday afternoon to thursday morning i was out. the bad thing about my place when this happens is that i have no hot water. bonus is that ryan's place has a gas heated hot water tank so i was at least able to take a shower there. i find it sort of funny that the only time i really really want to take a shower is when i know that i can't. generally, i'll happily go three or four days without a bath, but not when i know i can't.
near the end, i was actually enjoying no power. we decided that we were actually just in training for when the economy completely collapses and we are unable to pay our utilities.
mike davis is in town from virigina this week. i have managed to escape totally drinking disaster for every day besides sunday.
i am working on getting a really awful sinus infection. super stoked about that. my winter of constant sickness approaches.
