Hello :)
Last week I had the opportunity to take photos for a magazine and cover a tattoo convention here in Queensland. It's called Surf'n'Ink. I've covered it before for Tattoos Downunder magazine. It's such a fun day and now I'm beginning to know the artists a bit more it helps a lot. So from 10.30am to 10pm, I was there taking photos of people getting tattooed, the artists, the competitions, even just people attending the event, I'd ask to take photos of their tatts too. This is the bit that I love! Where else can you walk up to a complete stranger, say, do you mind if I take a photo of your tattoo, and then get to have a really close look at their artwork and ask them all kinds of questions about it.
Sure you can do that on the street, but it feels a bit wierd huh? For both people involved. But at a convention and when I have a media pass hanging around my neck....people are really cool about it! And I really love to hear the stories too.
Anywho, before the event I shot someone at SG HQ a message asking if were possible to do some kind of a recruitment at these things. There are SO many beautiful tattooed women that attend this kind of convention. I know how well the Sydney recruitment party went and thought....what better place than Sydney, than the Gold Coast?
I did not hear anything back from them....so....maybe next time. There will be another convention in Brisbane in September, so if I push it with HQ, maybe we could do something there.
There has been SO much traffic in SG Australia lately, why not push it a little more and see what happens?
So do you want to see some photos of the bikini models and Miss Ink comps from the convention? I thought you may....
See what I mean? A lot of good looking girls and a lot of ink!
In other news....work still sucks dead dingoes dongers. So I won't go on about that.
My house plans finally came back from Council so now I just need to get the finance that was pre-approved, approved and we can start the build. FINALLY! Fuck me it's taking a long time.
I am shooting with Scarlett (see previous blogs) again on Tuesday for a few different projects of hers. She is always a hoot to shoot with, so that will be fun!
I think that's it for now :) bye!
