I think it's funny that the vet settles on 'it smells like the ocean in here,' when it's obvious they want to say 'your cat smells like a dirty pirate hooker.'
I've been struggling with weight management on my little demon for a couple of months now, and a few weeks back the vet suggested a low cal food by the makers of the food she's currently been eating. Unfortunately, the food is a fish-based food. Kittenhead Superbeast has never had fish-based anything in her entire 1.5 years, for a very good reason...
For the same reason I avoid wet food like the plague.
Because while I know little about cats, I have had a kitten in the past who we tried wet food with and that was a disaster...
But I had no idea that a dry food could cause the same smell as a wet without all the associated litter nastiness.
It is basically to the point that her smell permeates the room and you can't pick her up because your clothes smell like...well, for lack of a better term, like a dirty pirate hooker rubbed her junk all up ons.
: sigh :
So the vet prescribed a VERY HIGH PROTEIN food and relatively LOW calorie in efforts to curb the stench. And it allows me to feed her a bit more too which I think will help some of the behavior problems she's been having.
We'll see.
Argh!
