The people next door have a beagle that they just let out the front door for hours at a time. Today it was tearing up the trash so I had to go tell the guy to get his damn dog.
I'm going to rant a little about dogs. I like dogs just fine, but I find myself getting pissed off at dog people. No, not all dog people, but there are enough of what I perceive to be the annoying ones in this town that I have become bitter.
I know you love your dog. I know it's the smartest pooch in the world. I know it's more well behaved than every other dog that has existed since the beginning of canines, but get it the Christ off your lap while driving! How ridiculous can you be?
Leave your dog at home when you go to the retail store. This isn't a posh NYC boutique and you are not Paris Hilton. You can't bring your dog into the store. No, not even if you carry it. The insurance company doesn't allow it, Some people are afraid of dogs, and in the end it's really not fair to the poor animal. Even an even tempered dog can get freaked out in an enclosed space with lots of people and blaring music.
And you know what? Leaving rover tied up outside while you shop or eat dinner isn't much better. For some reason, every one in this town thinks it is OK to tether their pets to a parking meter while they linger in the restaurants. I'm not talking about grabbing a quick cup of coffee, I mean full dinners with dessert and after dinner drinks.
The bottom line is that nobody loves your dog like you do and it's not fair to other people (or the dog) to impose it on everyone around you. Care for your animal, walk it and play with it regularly and for heaven's sake, clean up after it.
Again, I don't mean to accuse all dog owners, I'm sure anyone reading this is a kind and considerate animal lover.
Thank you
P.S. you can subsitute "child" for "Dog" in this entry and it works the same.

Ha! That makes me think of that terrible SNL sketch with Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon. It was called "Dog Show". Painful to watch, but I kind of think that was the point ... people who are waaaay too into their dogs.
