So, let me start by saying that my boss is also my father-in-law. A man whom I admire greatly. We have similar personalities which can get in the way at work, but the two of us are more productive as a team than any other employee he's had in 25 yrs.
So, He and my MIL go to Memphis for their 26th Anniv. and for the first time leave my younger BIL & SIL to themselves without asking my wife or I to check in on them. My SIL is 19 and in college to be an architect. She comes out with the comment "I can't believe mom didn't set up a babysitter (she didn't mean someone to live in the house and sit them, just someone to look over them.) which told me the weekend was going to be interesting.
So, her (the SIL) boyfriend of four yrs. (a real loser) gets locked up for underage possession of alcohol. Well, the story goes...
He comes home (his folks house) to find his friends there getting drunk with his two younger sisters (I would be in jail for murder, but that;s just me). He joins in. Mom and dad come home and dad blows a gasket and literally kicks the friends and him out of his house. This would be the first time I agree with any of the dad's actions.
So, the BF and his friends go to a local PUBLIC park to finish their party. Real smart, Woodstock, GA Cops are Nazi's.
So, they get busted and locked up.
So, my SIL bails the loser BF out of jail with her College Tuition savings ($700). He promises to pay her back with his next two paychecks. He also believes he is going to get a slap on the wrist. I don't know who is giving him legal advise, but they suck. He is losing his license for at least a year, but I'll let him find out the hard way.
So, the next night he and his friends brieng a bottle of Vodka to my in-laws place to party some more. My SIL is meek and doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She is unable or unwilling to kick them out. Remember they just got out of jail for the same thing. They learn quick, huh? Well, the BIL (17) is a gamer and doesn't cause much real trouble. He locks himself in his room and hopes the trouble will go away.
So, the house gets trashed. the BIL & SIL do a good job of cleaning up and all seems well, until....
The 'rents get home.
Now, I have to walk a fine line of refusing to lie to th in-laws and not being a tattle-tale. I instruct the Little ones to fess up, if either of the in-laws ask me a direct question, I will be honest in my answer. They understand and come clean. Both in big trouble, SIL loses car except from work and school and home. BIL gets the "You could have called "Neckbone" and he would have cheerfully cleared the house of unwanted guests" speech. I agree, I would have loved to get that call. My FIL would have happily bailed me out for whoppin' the loser BF's ass. Something I've wanted to do for some time. I'm not really a violent man, but he brings out the worst in me.
So, needless to say the FIL thinks he can never go out of town again, and the kids have a lot of trust to earn again.
