"What is a piece of art that you have, or would love to have, hanging on your wall or sitting in your house?"
I just moved recently, so I'm still sort of getting things situated with what's getting hung where.
That said, in the last few places I've lived I've had a couple different iterations of my mirror wall. I thrifted a bunch of mirrors over time and was lucky enough to get a couple as gifts, and hung them as an accent wall.
The current version is probably my favorite and looks like this:
But I've actually since thrifted a few more cool mirrors so looking forward to expanding it.
I also collect mounted butterflies (they have been ethically collected) and have a wall dedicated to them as well. This photo is from my last apartment:
Another decorative staple is my mannequin, Martha. I just like the ambiance she adds 🥹. Maybe not a standard definition of art, but I definitely consider her art 😌
Another piece that has always had a place on my wall since I inherited it, is this one of a kind beauty:
she’s not hung up in my new place yet, but will be up behind my guitars (hopefully going up this weekend!). This was an incredibly lovely gift from @kiley several years ago, and I love both the reminder of our friendship and all the other wonderful connections, friends, and memories I’ve gotten to make through SG.
In terms of art I want to get my hands on - Matt Pectol is a local painter who creates incredible interpretations of our beautiful landscapes here. I would love to eventually get my hands on one of his originals, but in the meantime will probably grab a print of this painting of the Narrows which is currently my favorite piece by him. If the original hasn’t already been sold, I would go into debt to get it 😭 just the colors, the movement, the beauty. I love it!!!
