Went to the doctor yesterday for the 1 week post-op and I got some interesting information about my shoulder..
The rotator cuff was separated and basically under my clavicle and it adhered to that area and the surgeon had to carefully "cut" the cuff out of the area without cutting the vessles or nerves that are in that area.
The bone spur was pretty large and had multiple sharp points, that was removed and he sealed the bone so it would not grow back --- YEAH!!!!
He found that I was missing some ligaments in the shoulder and had to do some reconstruction by putting some anchors where the ligaments were supposed to attach and reattching the stuff to remake the correct structuress.
And I have a 6 to 8 inch incision and he was able to make it without damaging the tattoo on my shoulder, and when he first explained the surgery to me, said it would be 2 to 3 inches in length. The good thing about that is it doesn't matter how long the incision is.. it all heals the same rate... as long as the edges of the incision are together a 6 inch cut will heal as fast as a 2 inch cut.
Because of the reconstruction he did in my shoulder, he wants me to wait two weeks before I start physical therapy, to allow the healing to be more complete before I start stressing the structures. And he is recommending 8 weeks off of work instead of 6.
Even with the change of pain medications and I had been home for a week... I am getting a little stir crazy now... but it is a little better to type now....
