Hello SG land. After much paranoia and careful planning, I've decided to go on a little excursion to Boston with my Veronica. I hope to accompany her on a tour of Harvard, should be exciting since I've never been there. Funny thing, when I think of Boston, the first thing that pops into my mind is U2...yes you read that right. As an avid collector of live and um, special import CD's, I once came across a U2 bootleg called "Welcome To Boston"...that phrase just stuck in my head somehow. At this point, I'm just praying that I make it over the border. Greyhound, may God be with you.
For the movie buffs out there, just thought I'd give a review of a DVD I rented recently. The film is 'City Of God'...an intense real-life story about life in the Favela, the densely populated poverty-stricken regions of Rio De Janeiro. I believe it's based on actual incidents. It tells the Story of a young lad who dreams of escaping the dreary lifestyle of his community (gangs, drugs, robberies, murders) by aspiring to, and becoming a photographer. There is a lot of brutal violence and graphic imagery used in order to convey a true feel for what it was like to live that life. I highly recommend the film. There's even extra material related to interviews with actual persons living in Rio De Janeiro who experience the brutal violence on a daily basis. For those who love to read, the film is subtitled. Two thumbs up. Hope I didn't give too much away or spoil it for anyone
Today I took the Happy Pill...Tomorrow, who knows?
