"what if the world were a little more perfect?"...those were the words I've been waiting to hear and tonight, I've heard them. It's a Maren Ord song called 'Perfect' & now I can sleep much better tonight. I checked out the oh so talented Maren Ord at the Rivoli, along with Dayna Manning and some new Australian songstress named Holly Throsby who was just as good. I'm such a huge fan of these wonderful intimate shows, where it feels like the artist is performing in your very own living room.
Anyway, went to the show alone as I usually do. All my friends can't/don't appreciate the music that I do. It hurts like fuck when people put you down or judge you for the types of music you listen to. Music is a part of who I am, it expresses my personality, my tastes, and for someone to come along and lecture me about my choice of music - that person is no different than the thug waiting in the alleyway to club me over the head and steal my wallet. In summary, it gives me the same feeling as if someone was being racist. Can anyone out there agree? Or at least share my view? If anyone experiences flak from your friends because they don't dig your music, I'd love to hear from you. As a local musician once told me, "you don't have to actually like the music to appreciate it" and he is right. Sorry to rant...just had to get it off my chest
And that is how my Easter weekend has started xO, Navaro
