He went to the massive penitentiary like public high school in the middle of this barren field. It was practically ringed with razor wire. It wasnt obviously, but at night, with all the squat windowless buildings sprawled over this huge treeless area, all lit up by these most unsettling yellowy flood lights, you would have sworn you saw at least some razor wire ringing that awful treeless field out by the perimeter of the school. You would have. It just felt like a maximum-security penitentiary. There may have been some barbed wire way back at the far end of the treeless fields, but if you were describing the whole thing to someone, you would probably throw in that the entire goddamned thing was just bristling and ringed with coils and coils of glistening razor wire. The media tower out over by the football field didnt help at all either. It was a perfect replica of a prison watchtower house. They probably got it from the same company that makes penitentiary watchtowers. So that looming over the grim field didnt help in the least bit. From out on the road, looking down on the grim joyless mess of squat windowless buildings and watchtower and speed bumps and endless parking lots and trash barrels, you just felt despair. Standing up by the road or sitting in your car and looking down the driveway at it with all those muddy puddles and grassless fields, you would just about want to burst into tears. It was that depressing. If it was a rainy Sunday afternoon and you were forced to sit in your car at the top of that awful pot hole strewn driveway and just stare at the entire mess, within minutes you would be sobbing and blubbering like a madman. You would weep, I guarantee it. And later, back in your house or later that night while you lay in bed, you honestly would swear that the entire thing was ringed with razor wire. You would.
