HAP(nyc) and I were listening to this slick tune by T andwe just thought we'd review what she has been through. Up to this point. Tasha, aka T (Yoon MiRae), is the first female emcee to step into the Korean music scene and since her debut as a member of Uptown in 1997, she has been recognized as the top female emcee in the hip-hop scene. Tasha has garnered the respect from the r&b community as well with her smooth and soulful vocals. Her best works include "To My Love", "Wonder Woman", and the ever-so-popular "Haroo Haroo."Despite her popularity in the music scene, she has recently been caught in the midst of a lawsuit with her record label, World Music. World is claiming that Tasha's involvement with the Drunken Tiger/Uptown drug scandal took money and credibility away from the label. Tasha was found innocent of all charges and is currently the last top selling artist on the label. Tasha is currently trying to break her contract with World because of World's mistreatment and inevitable bankruptcy. However, if in the event that Tasha loses the case, she will be deported back to the United States because World has a good control on her visa status. Tasha will then be unable to promote her music in the Korean scene. Tasha was one of the most important forces in the Korean hip-hop movement. Here's some assorted articles.

[NEWS] TASHA WINS FIRST ROUND OF CASES AGAINST WORLD MUSIC; A REVIEW OF EVENTS
When Tasha filed her original suit against World Music for trying to sell her to another company without her approval, World Music in turn counter-sued claiming that Tasha was breaking her contract. World Music went bankrupt in 2002 and under Tasha's contract, it stated that World was not allowed to sue Tasha as long as she finished her term with the company. With World's bankruptcy, World lost status as a record label. Despite World's lost status as a record label, the company still decided to sue Tasha for "breaking her contract." The company then reported to newspapers that they were the first to sue and the newspapers did not bother to consult Tasha about the claim. Tasha, in hopes of salvaging her name, sent the newspapers her side of the story, which was then editted to the likes of the press. Tasha was then slapped with another lawsuit for "tarnishing World's name" through this letter and also because of her involvement in the UPT/DT drug scandal of 2000.Luckily, Tasha won the first case regarding the letter she wrote to the newspapers. Although she's still dealing through the last few claims against her, she sends her thanks to all those who have come to support her through this hard time. When the case will be over is hard to determine, but please keep her in your prayers and hope for the best!
[ARTICLE] WORLD MUSIC SAYS TO T- "WE'LL DEPORT YOU IF YOU LEAVE OUR LABEL"
It was announced that female R&B artist T (22, full name Yoon MiRae), who has been in a prolonged fight over her contract with World Music, could possibly be deported from Korea depending on the verdict of her trial.T filed a suit against World Music early this year, asking for her payment that was missing. In response to this World Music filed a counter-suit, stating that last summer T cost them their reputation--a fight that still goes on today. Despite World's unreasonable claims, the possibility of T's deportation seems to be very real.
The reason for this possibly dramatic outcome is because of the drug-abuse charges against her in 2000. T, who debuted with 4-member hip hop group Uptown back in '96 was charged along the rest of Uptown for illegal drug use in December of 2000.
Every member of Uptown, excluding T, was deported to United States, where all of them held citizenship. The members were able to be active in Korea through a Work Visa, but the 3 members of Uptown could no longer stay in Korea due to the drug charges.T was able to stay active in Korea due to a trust-claim with World Music. But in the case that T breaks off her relations with World Music, World Music says, T will have to join the other members of Uptown and be deported out of Korea.
[ARTICLE]WORLD MUSIC SUES T
Music management company, World Music Entertainment, filed a lawsuit against T(aka tasha) and her mother for 4 million dollars in damage saying that they have suffered a great loss because she got involved in a drug crime.
According to a world music executive, "For a music management company, it costs more then 4 million dollars to find a talent, produce an album, and promote the album. We have suffered a massive financial loss and our image as a company has been degraded because T did drugs."
T signed a contract with world music in 2000 while promoting an album as a member of Tashannie.
She was sentenced to eight month in prison and two years of probation based on suspicion of taking drugs.
T debuted with hiphop group, Uptown, and is currently a solo artist. She has hit songs such as "As Time Goes By", "Memories", and "To My Love."
