Dear Diary;
Monday, Feb. 13, 2007 - Alarm went off at 2:50 am. Hit snooze till 3
3:03 am - went out and started truck (-17 C) pay attention to that... there's a test later.
3:10 am - Nereid got up and poured me a coffee
3:30 am - Left for Calgary International Airport
4:40 am - after an uneventful drive, arrived at airport
5:20 am - checked in and through security
5:45 am - board flight. Quinne (flight attendant) is GORGEOUS
6:15 am - flight departure time... one problem... not departing
6:45 am - pilot informs us of electrical and icing problems
7:00 am - still waiting for the plane to be de-iced
7:45 am - flight finally taxies (did I mention Quinne was hot!?)
8:50 am - flight touches down in Ft. Macmurray
9:20 am - flight still on tarmac... solitary parking spot occupied
10:00 am - finally get in, get my gear, and get told by a cabbie to "fuck-off" (the guy before me got told to fuck-off by 3 cabbies so guess I didn't have it so bad. Oh and did I mention at 10 am in Ft McMurray it was a balmy -43C?
The rest of the day went as any other work day with the exception being most work days aren't so friggin cold!
I had to stop in McMurray and spend $300 on warm boots, gloves, hard hat liner... the usual stuff these freaks up here wear on a regular basis.
Had a little freak out at nite tho. There's no phone service so I can't talk to Nereid, but there is wireless internet. Or was... or is.... or something. Whilst I was talking to her on messenger, the internet went dead. I thought I had fucked up my computer somehow. So I messed with it for half an hour when, panicked, I jumped in my truck and drove 25 minutes till I could finally get two bars and make a staticy call to her. I was pretty freaked. There's no way I could go a day let alone however many I'm going to be up here (Two hours north of McMurray at camp) without being able to stay in contact with her!
But as you can see Dear Diary, the internet is working just fine now.

Miss you lots and lots
Love you Madly
Meerkats!
They are the awesomest rodents ever! If you get a chance to go to the Calgary zoo, they have a couple there. Just thinking about them makes me giggle.
