So the big day is July 8th. A little sooner than we had planned, but what's the point in waiting.... originally wanted to do it May 17, 2007 (cuz that's the day we met), and than we were going to Greece and Turkey, but we are going to have the wedding in her mom's garden and of course the garden won't be ready, and we didn't want to wait till next summer (thats to long to wait), so we'll get married this summer, and honeymoon in Greece next spring.

Shitty!
Anyway.... Details....
As I mentioned, Disneyland was/is the most amazing place I have ever been to! I just can't put it to words....
But cutting to the chase, New Year's Eve day, it poured!!!! Like we were soaked to the bone in a matter of minutes. And I was really wondering how the night was going to turn out, cuz I really didn't want to propose in a rainstorm, and I still hadn't decided where or when to propose... was thinking maybe with the fireworks, but if it was pouring, was there even going to be any fireworks? STRESS!!!
So at about two oclock, we went back to our hotel room to throw our clothes in the dryer, have a hot tub, and relax so we were ready to party till midnight..... Let me tell you, by now I was getting pretty antsy... I didn't know how long I could bare to wait to ask her.
At four oclock, we laid down for a nap (K some fun first, but then a nap!) It was still pouring. At six oclock, we got up and got ready to go.... AND THERE WASN"T A CLOUD IN THE SKY!!!! YAY!!
So as we were walking to the park, I was still trying to figure out when where and how.... I had it in my head to do it in the vicinity of the Small World Castle cuz it was lit up so nicely... Maybe on the It's a Small World ride, but there were so many people everywhere, and I wanted a bit of privacy... so after the ride, we went for a walk. So by now it's getting close to seven-thirty. At about six-thirty, they start roping off areas to get ready for the fireworks... anyone who has been there knows what I mean.... well Nereid asked me where we were going, and I told her just for a walk.... we walked around the side of Sleeping Beauty's Castle, and it was all roped off.... Off to the side of the castle, is a slightly hidden path that leads to a wishing well, and fountain, and a set of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. But the whole are was roped off.... I stopped Nereid and walked back a few steps to a bench and sat her down and told her I would be right back.
I walked over to the staff member guarding the roped off path and asked him if there was any chance of sneaking back to the wishing well to propose to my girlfriend.... he sent three people running in three directions and in a matter of a couple minutes, he said sure...
SO I went back and got Nereid.... and as we walked over the lowered rope, she asked me what we were doing.... I told her I had a confession to make... she had a worried look on her face as she said okay... I told her I had alterior motives for bring her to Disneyland... now she was looking really worried... I told her something had been weighing heavy on my heart for some time now, and that I needed to get it off my chest... by this time we were at the wishing well... Imagine if you will, a wishing well that looks much like a covered water well.... soft lighting, soft music from Snow White, the soft sound of the water fountain.... lush greenery all around us... AND NOT A SOUL IN SIGHT!!!
Nereid was looking very worried by this time as I looked at her... you can't believe how dry my mouth was. I got down on one knee and took her hands in mine and told her she would make me the happiest man in Disneyland if she would be my wife.... She ripped her hands from mine and as they went to her mouth, her eyes wide, she fell to both knees and threw her arms around me, both crying and laughing, and coughing "Of course"
She had absolutely no idea. She had convinced herself thanks to me and her sister, that I was not ever going to be ready to get married.
Had I actually tried to plan that.... I couldn't have. Everything just fell into place perfectly!
It was awesome!
So now we are planning a wedding for July 8.
Isn't life grand!
