Thanks to my friends for the comments regarding my new found self. I will post in your journals to speak to each of you directly. Also, thanks for the ignore member trick....it's been taken care of.
Well, it's 5:15 in the morning and I am awake AGAIN. My sleep schedule is all wacked because I've had a really bad earache since late Sat night....so I sleep all day yesterday and now I am awake and my friggin ear hurts again. These are the illnesses you get when you are a mother....illnesses that you had forgotten about since grade school like chicken pox, earaches, stomach flu's...and a whole bunch of new diseases that they have come up with since I was little. Fun, fun!!
I think that the DSM V, when it comes out, should add a new disorder to the personality disorder section. Victim-Martyr Personality disorder. It's a lot like Bipolar Disorder in the fact that the person who has it vacillates between poles...only this time the poles represent the state of being a victim and Martyrdom, as opposed to Mania and Depression. While in the victim state, the person plays the victim, blaming everyone around him/her for the problems in his/her life and getting attention from friends by acting as if some horrble perpetrator made him/her the victim. He or she may even go so far as to lie about what happened to make the perpetrator become hated and ostracized. In the Martyr state, the person is no longer getting the attention he or she seeks from playing the victim....in fact, being a victim usually gets old with the people around the person after a while...and so, the victim moves into becoming a martyr....apologizes to whoever he or she claims did him or her wrong..and once again the martyr is held in high esteem by his or her peers because now the martyr is seen as such a wonderful person because he or she forgave the terrible person who hurt him or her even though the martyr was hurt by him or her. While in the victim or martyr state the ego accomplishes two very vital things: keeping the person in the role of the "good guy" in the eyes of those around him or her and also keeping the attention always on the victim/martyr. But what happens if the victim doesn't get the attention he/she seeks? What happens if the martyr does not suceed in the acts of martyrdom? The ego will find itself unable to hide behind defenses and the person will either have to face the truth or fall apart. I know a couple of people like this....and knowing what they are made of, my bet is that they will fall apart.
Here endth the lesson.................goodnight all
