It is the absolute worst thing in the world. The whole "Better to have lost in love than never to have loved at all", well that's NONSENSE!
I would much rather have never loved the object of my unreturned affections. And their being flattered and assuring me that anyone would be happy to blah blah blah yackity smackity ad nauseum, it didn't do anything to heal the gaping bloody hole from which they had just ripped my heart.
