Had a really nice unplanned weekend.
Friday we went to the pub for one and sat in the beer garden until it got a bit too cold and went inside and talked weddings (I promise I'll talk about other stuff on my blogs soon,). Then Kristoph and TheKnives came over and we drank boozes and shot zombies.
Saturday we got up late and then joined the same nefarious pair in town for more boozes in the King Bill and then a spot of bowling at the Lanes (I won with a score of 143, which is a pretty decent score for me.). I love bowling and will try to go more often I think. The Lanes is 50's themed, but without being all "Jack Rabbit Slim's", so it's cool.
Sunday we got up late again and then got a text from our neighbours saying they were doing a gig at the Tobacco Factory, a pub near us, so we dived out quickly to do some grocery shopping and then headed over to the gig. If you ever get a chance to see LadyRaz, (not sure if she plays outside of Bristol,) she's really good and has an amazing voice and sometimes her bf accompanies her on drums. Anyway we ended up meeting up with a couple of friends and an old housemate of mine, who has recently moved in with our friend Suze and had boozes (again,) and listened to live music, (I also recommend Limb Bones, who did Pirate themed rock/pop stuff and were very entertaining,) and then had a look around the regular Tobacco Factory Sunday market, (good - we bought lemon poppy seed cake and a Black Forest muffin, yum!) and the craft fair, (crap apart from some half decent graf/art on canvases.
Monday - work. Shit.
Today - work, ok and we had Dave over to help me shoot those pesky zombies again - he's going to rent Left 4 Dead so we can play online and Pinklet and Suze went for a walk, then came back for food & more Left 4 Dead.
BTW, I highly recommend both Plants vs. Zombies, which is available for both PC and Mac and World of Goo which is available for PC, Mac, Linux and Nintendo Wii, on Wiiware. (I'm looking at you, accidental Wii owner, TheKnives...)
Speaking of Suze, I drew a little doodle of her on a post-it, as I often do at work when I'm bored because I really wish I worked in a creative industry. Even programming would be more creative than what I do, but alas being an IT dogsbody pays the bills, (and hopefully for the wedding!) so I relagate creative stuff to my spare time. Anyway, I've been trying to learn a little Adobe Illustrator recently and thought I'd use the sketch as a piece to do some learning with. So far I'm liking it but certain things are just diffferent enough to Photoshop that it can be quite frustrating, but here's what I have done so far:
Suze is actually descended from real pirates apparently, hence the sketch. She also has a false beard that she sometimes wears, hence the beard and she also has an impressive rack, hence the impressive rack.
I'm fairly pleased with it so far, especially since I've made a fair few changes just in illustrator - she originally had two hands & no hook, her feet were at slightly different angles and her sword was a totally different shape. Next job is either drawing the deck of the boat or else shading on the character.
How's life been treating you my lovelies?
