At the urging of someone I am writing the "Top Ten Things That Make Me Smile" blog...
1. dearambellina... 'nuff said.
2. Laying in bed, covered in blankets, the air outside a bit cold, the thoughts in my head of her, my mind at peace.
3. Music. Music in all forms, music of all styles... having a soundtrack to my life, having the world explained to me through song. Music in everything I do.
4. My best friend, his genius, his random moments of complete caring for others, the way he treats his son. A man capable of incredible feats who usually doesn't manage them, but I love him anyway.
5. My family, despite the pain. The way my mother tries, the way my real parents nag, the way my sister laughs and sings and the way my grandmother worries and prays. There is no equivalent in life to family, they're just there, and you love them for it. I hate them all. They make me smile.
6. Light reflected off water, a gentle breeze in the air. I can't live without water, be it the ocean's roar in Florida or the gentle peace of sitting riverside in Pittsburgh, water is my rock, the place I go for solace and happiness. Water is majestic.
7. Faith... not in a God, not even in an ideaology, but in myself. Faith that I can move mountains, faith that I can find my way. Faith that when I feel something it's real, shoot for something it's worth it. Faith that I am a good man.
8. Shooting aliens and communists in video games... watching explosions and cuss words fly in 80's action films... listening to randomly strung together beats that make me dance... laughing to the irreverency of late-night comedy... The little things, the things that mean nothing, but at the same time mean everything. The small joys of life... the unimportant requirements.
9. Drama that means something, acting and writing that combines to change your life. From the theatre to the television, novels to short stories, people have the power to change minds, to effect lives, and to see it done, sometimes done to me, is a powerful thing. I want to change minds, I want to introduce ideas... the idea of it makes me smile, experiencing it makes me smile...
10. Tomorrow... falling in love, meeting my children, buying my first house, seeing the effect my life has on others over time, holding my wife's hand at my daughter's wedding, shaking my son's hand at his graduation, meeting my grandchildren, remembering my fallen mother, seeing where society takes us, using those things not yet invented, saying goodbye to the love of my life and finding out what lies beyond...
