Well.. I haven't been online in a few days. Crazy weekend! I had to do some photography for my friend's wedding Saturday morning (photos of the girls getting their hair/makeup done), then I was driving the wedding car so I was at the wedding from the very start of the day until the very end of the night. oi.. What a long day! I showed up at our friend's salon just after 10:00am, and I pretty well kept going until about 3:00am. It was a pretty interesting wedding though, especially as far as weddings typically go. The bride is of Malaysian descent (well, Brunei to be exact) and the groom is of (I believe) Ukranian, and they're both BIG food lovers. So, there was quite a spread of delicious things to eat, and they did it buffet style. SO tasty! Also, the Best Man is a wine-taster professionally, so they also had some amazing wine.
The rest of the night included such entertainment as:
-belly dancers
-a kraftwerk coverband (who had visuals coming off a laptop/projector).. so good!
-a long slew of DJ friends kept tag teaming on turntables/cd-decks/powerbook for the rest of the night, playing mostly electro (the groom and his friends are electro dj's) but with some disco and polka (!) as well.
The polka was played by this CRAZY guy Sven we know. He's so great, but like, wow.. I don't think I can do him justice simply through text. If you've ever seen the old SNL skit with Mike Myers and (I think) Nicole Kidman, where Mike Myers is playing a hyperactive little kid, who's tied to a jungle gym... well, that's Sven more or less. Except Sven is a 40 year old guy wearing a powder blue tux (with ruffley shirt) with a giant moustache. GoodTimes.
Anyhow.. that was obviously pretty well the focal point of the weekend. But on Friday night I went to see Broken Social Scene play a free show down at the Harborfront Centre. I love going to see performances down there on nice summer evenings.. With the Toronto skyline to your left, and Lake Ontario and the Islands directly behind you. It's so beautiful!
And yeah, Sunday I decided to do pretty well diddly squat. I returned my rented suit and went for a drive around Toronto out to a neighborhood I've never spent any time in (The Beaches), and played video games. That's about it.
Jeez.. Do you think I need to post shorter journals more often? No matter how long I PLAN to make these things, they always wind up being like a life story.
ps. Elli the kitten is feeling much better now. He told me to thank you guys for your concern.
