"Nobody Likes Me, Everybody Hates Me. I Think I'll Eat Worms"
And I thought Theme Nights were fun before?! Well there a FUCKING BLAST with children!
I think "Nachos" inspired our Mexican night. Of course, nachos = Nacho Libre (which we didn't even watch because we were having so much fun....) so "Mexican" night turned into Mexican Wrestler Theme Night. How can you not love (or want to dress up like) a Luchador?
Incidentally.....
Lucha libre (Spanish for "free wrestling" or free fighting) is a term used in Mexico, and other Spanish-speaking countries referring to a form of professional wrestling involving varied techniques and moves.
Mexican wrestling is characterized by rapid sequences of holds and moves, as well as high-flying moves, some of which have been adopted in the United States, and colorful masks.
Female wrestlers or "Luchadoras" also compete in Mexican lucha libre.
Okay, so Chocolate Covered Strawberries may not be "Mexican" but for a theme night you MEXI-can bend the rules a little.
Its the sake of the thing, not the principal.
Besides, I'm SUPER SURE at some point, someone, somewhere in Mexico has dipped a strawberry in chocolate or covered one with it eh.
Those really are worms, and those girls really, really, really, liked them. That "Mexican Spice" seasoning probably had something to do with it. I swear, when you mentally get past the fact its a worm, they're DELICIOUS! Betcha Can't Eat Just One!
I like a Theme with:
-a film
-a food
-something we can make or do
-somewhere to go
and/or
-a DRINK!
Ours drink of choice was called: Strawberry-Lime "Blenderitas" Totally, kid friendly till you add the Tequila and Triple Sec eh!
Tangy and fruity margaritas whip up in the blender quicker than you can say "cheers!"
Ingredients:
2 cups lime juice
1 cup tequila
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup triple sec or cointreau
1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
Ice
Salt (optional garnish for glass)
Preparation:
Fill blender 2/3 with ice. Add ingredients and blend until smooth. Serve in a glass with a salted rim.
No worries. The girls might have helped to push the buttons, but they certainly did not get to "taste" the Blenderitas. lol! And they were definitely in bed by the time we started "tasting" them. hehe.
Unfortunately, our fiendish plan to trick them into eating healthy snacks backfired because we made so many choc. strawberries we ran out of strawberries to feed the blender.
Then the "simpler" drinks happened. Then the straight up juice and booze happened. Then the shots happened.
"I'm only doing these shots for the salt!"
-Me.
I'm sure fun was had by all, especially the Lil Loca Luchadoras!
Y'all have a theme night & post your pic's. I'd love to see what you're super brains can come up with!
