...And This Is What I Got
A visit to the land of snow! Fun times on the farm eh. An adventurous day of photo taking in the "falling" (at any moment) barn. I would have shot at pidgeon's with my slingshot, but they're too smart. Inhumane I know, but they're not supposed to be there and I want the target practice.
Good thing they flew away though, I sho'nuff had enough trouble just hitting inanimate objects..

Unfortunately, I returned with no marbles left to find out "it's okay to shoot pidgeon's" it's NOT okay to shoot "anything else".
Oops!
What do you expect though? Especially from a guest who always shows up at your house with a Pabst Blue Ribbon in her hand.
It was loud, snowy, chilly and I was pretty high on those mushrooms. 4 hours later I was pretty pleased with our hike through the "closed for the season" Provincial park.
Cheers! To spending the day doing something you love!
In my case, for now at least, thats a can of PBR and a lot of hiking to move the blood. Best buzz.
Fuck cake. I would rather have a candle placed on my pork chop or steak.
Although, I will make an exception for "Space Cake".
The fishing is sketch in winter. You can ice fish, but huts have to be off lakes by the en--, actually by TODAY. The ice gets wet, slushy and very scary when you're not sure if those dark spots can hold the weight anymore. I prefer "open" (running, no ice on it) water, but unfortunately with all that ice melting the open water is also running faster, running higher and definitely a lot more dangerous to fish. Some of the species are more active and aggressive right now because its spawning season, but only Pike are "open" for catching right now.
Of course, I break the law like its going out of style when I become frustrated with the lack of fishing and play the "I'm not from around here" card every hand in a different city.
This made up for the lack of fishing (although I have fished 3x since I've been here despite the odds):
They said "why don't you take the quad out for a spin?" (ON THE ICE)
I said "No f*cking thank you!"
Can you imagine? Ripping around on a frozen lake on that heavy thing? Then I tried it.
I made a super small circle and came back, terrified.
Then Keith said "here I'll get a picture of you"
and I was like "you didn't take a picture?"
So I went back out and you know what?
They couldn't get me to come back! I wouldn't driven across every f*cking lake those things are so fun!
I got to drive it back to town! 20 min. 70km top speed (like what, 50mph?) and Metallica all the way
Once again, as soon as you forget the ice, its not so scary anymore. MIND YOU, you should always make sure YOU KNOW the ice is thick enough before you go forgetting you're on it!
Our buddies ice hut, trailer and truck all went through the ice about a foot when he was pulling them off. Only 30 ft. from the shore too! Its pretty nerve wrenching to watch things break through too! Thank goodness there was a layer of ice under the ice he fell through or we would've had front row seats to a disaster of sorts.
No visit is complete without a visit to Farquhar's dairy convieniently located just across the bridge on Manitoulin Island!
Somehow I have been "roped" into helping my buddy clean the new house he just bought. Luckily, since I love to clean and I love to drink beer, this will almost be fun. Almost!
Catch ya' on the flip side!
Oh, and Happy April Fool's day!
Please do something to someone somewhere, even if its just blacking-out an eye with eye shadow and fake blood. If you call in "dead" to work however, I'll be right impressed!
