I've been meaning to post these pictures since the job was done just before New Year's Eve. Holy crap, that was nearly a month ago already. I guess it's a good thing that I haven't had time to post anything in so long. I'll write a proper update of my goings-on since NYE some time soon.
So this is something I'd worked on, slowly and patiently, in my apartment from Thanksgiving until the end of December. I've been into home improvement for a few years now, but I drew the line at anything I'd have to measure, cut, and ensure was perfectly lined up/straight, or otherwise precise. So this is the largest-scale project I've done all by myself. Thank the stars for my super, who has this treasure trove of power tools he's willing to lend out.
The gist of the project was that I built a loft storage space in my closet, which has a very high ceiling that served no purpose. And I built a window and shutters for access. I'm pretty proud of this, especially considering I grew up in an apartment in Queens, far removed from any kind of suburban culture where everyone works on their house and has a garageful of tools.
