I have a road/driving theory.
And this is mostly, not entirely, the result of nearly being killed by or at least involved in a horrible car crash last night. Driving through a green light in a residential, quiet neighborhood late at night, I came within inches of being t-boned by an suv careening towards me at top speed. He did run his red light, and I sped up just enough to avoid his brake-less haul through the intersection. By an inch or two.
SO! Between that and a few days of basically suburban driving this week on business in Phoenix my theory is that the more space you give people to drive through, the more creative and impatient people get with how to maneuver that space. People spontaneously invent rules of the road, speed limits, turning patterns, and basically all ways of getting across the space between themselves and the spot they're trying to get to. I like my city driving, because there are fewer surprises. Sure someone can cut you off, but at least you saw him in the next lane over. All the wide-open space in Phoenix and Scottsdale is freaking me out, because I have _no idea_ from where a car might leap.
And it's not like I can walk anywhere. ...
Otherwise, the Mexican food here's bangin'.
