Here's the update from the Expo. Though it was more of a retail expo, I worked it like a trade show. How about this for a first time out:
- I sold enough product off the stand to cover the cost of attending the show
- We demoed the product to several hundred horse and dog owners. One lady even had llamas.
- Two vets and two equine rehab specialists who are interested in using the dressings in their business. One offered to provide documented case studies if I provide the dressings.
- Five tack shops showed at least some interest in picking up the product line
- I got offers of speaking engagements at four membership organizations and four more that are interested in offering discount pricing on our products as a membership benefit
- A new political action committee organized to support the equine business (the third largest business in Michigan) has approached me about getting involved with their efforts - not a bad combo for a tree hugger / business man
- I may have a consulting job with an old cowboy who owns a nutritional supplement company. He is almost ready to retire and he might like some help valuing and selling the business. Maybe we'll buy it.
- To top it off, one of the local TV stations rolled in about 45 minutes before the show closed. I pulled the camera man aside, cracked him up with a few jokes and ended up being interviewed about the show and our new business. I was on FOX 66 news at 6:00 and 10:00 last night.
Um, I guess I'd call it a success. What do you think?
