as for what I'm downloading: It's only a small few of the packages available with Cygwin. I'll be getting the aspell spell checker, the BASH shell, an XEmacs one minor-version more up-to-date than the windows-based one that is already installed here (cough), and some other crap, mostly just some minor shell utilities. I guess. it's going to take a hell of a long time to download -- been going for about five minutes, and is just now about three percent done.
making a list of "top tracks" from my local MP3s collection, in the while. Sure, it ain't a bedazzling collection, but it will have to suffice. Some of the tracks from the playlist, up to now:

- Ain't Talkin' - Bob Dylan

- Wake Up Tomorrow - One Block Radius
- World On Fire - One Block Radius
- Red - Sister Machine Gun
- Burn - Sister Machine Gun
- Ponderosa - Tricky
- Black Steel - Tricky (could hold some special meaning, to someone in the Army)
That's actually most of the tracks.
In other shytte:
- Lateralus wasn't the strongest album from tool
- The game Fate is not a bad a time-killer, but the fucking combat-engine in the thing is a balky piece of crap, some fucking cheap point-and-click shit.
- Sprint's "PCS Vision" service sucks, when it's in an area without high-bandwidth support. (I still need to write to that Sprint HQ, about that -- Fort Nowhere sure should have a high-bandwidth Sprint station installed, hereabout.)
Not much to say, otherwise. Waking up for the fucking 5 AM barracks inspections that the lug-nut NCOICs in the unit that I'm in have been -- pretty-much, stupidly -- subjecting us to, every day is gone to shit before it's really begun. If it a day ends on a high note, but that motherfucking stupid shit is waiting in the fucking morning. Hurrah, I'm in the fucking Army -- what a fucking wise decision it was, to enlist into this shit.
Off-ramp for the reader? Vivid is hhhottttt.
and I'm a long fucking way from Detroit. Life just makes some pain-in-the-ass coincidences, sometimes.
