Today I had lunch with a few SG folks at the McMenamins Tavern on 23rd and Savier. It was great... I love putting faces with names and getting to know the cool folks on my friendslist better.
I was lucky enough to meet PaoloDeSade and his lovely wife, and vielus for the first time! minibeanie was there of course, as well as my son Waylon who inhaled his food and went immediately back to his gameboy while we all exchanged stories.
Actually... I think Gina and I did most of the talking and we told some pretty goofy drunken tales of ourselves that I'm not sure I would normally share with people I had just met. It's interesting though, how we can talk back and forth in journals... feel a sense of the other person... and yet still be shy for that first face to face meeting. Kind of like high school only they are the good butterflies instead of the ones that gave me an ulcer.
I've decided that this must be done more often and I'm going to attempt to round up some folks for this type of activity during daytime hours so that my children are in school and daycare. It is much easier for me to go to lunch than an evening of drunken debouchery(sp?) so I'll have to prod everyone into coming out to see me when I'm actually "free."

in the lab for a week straight and am in need of some
dereliction. You mentioned karaoke before, but that
WOULD DEFINITELY require alcohol. I will be at The Green Room Pub Fri. night for a show that will be top shelf.
You know I never met you on my last Portland visit. I guess I will have to the next time I come down.
