I think from the previous month of posting for the fourth member to the band, I have learned to translate what I write in posts into what people actually see:
"early to mid-twenties" means "33-41"
"female" means "male"
"rhythm guitar ability" means "I played guitar for a few months in high school"
"accomplished keys/synth player" means "I have never played the keys but I'm sure I could learn quickly"
"original band" means "studio musicians for hire"
"multi-instrumentalist" means "although I can't actually play any instruments, my voice makes up for it"
"backing vocals" means "I'm a frontman/screamer"
"backing vocals" means "I can't sing"
"influenced by IDM, britrock, old-school punk, ambient electronica, and trip-hop" means "hey I'm starting a pop country band. Would you guys like to be a part of it"
I'm not making any of this up. These are all actual responses to ads we have placed.
Sooooooo, if anybody knows anybody who actually fits into the following category, I would be very interested in meeting them:
Female multi-instrumentalist focusing on keys/synth and rhythm guitar with backing vocal ability, ability to compose as well as play and perform, early to mid-twenties, dedicated musician who likes to work with nonsequiter and experimental musical elements. Interested in joining a fully collaborative new band. No defined frontman, regular and fast-paced rehearsal schedule with the intention of going all the way.
Influences include, Radiohead, Blur, The Clash, Massive Attack, Bloc Party, Squarepusher, IDM, U2, The Chemical Brothers, Aphex Twin, etc.
We need a girl that can tear the stage apart. And on that note, I am going to go eat Cocoa Puffs.
Don't try and stop me.
