Seeings I'm a boring fucker and literally nothing has happened in my life of any real note in the last couple of weeks, I figured I'd share my other love - reefing. No, I don't mean getting baked or whatever... I mean keeping a reef aquarium. Been doing it on and off for some time now, learning every day... trying to create something that defies the laws of nature.
I'm a total sucker for Pomacanthidae - or to put it in English, Marine Angelfish. They're some of the most majestic and understated creatures to exist, and also incredibly intelligent and noble. My aim is to someday keep a system large enough to house these exclusively, but for now I'm content with my current Centropyge (Centropyges are the "dwarf" species of Pomacanthids, growing to much smaller proportions than their larger brethren). Someday. I'm also an incredibly devoted Acroporid lover... Acropora being the primary family of reef-building corals. They're amazingly intricate and responsive creatures - something unfortunately the majority of people will never get to see. So, I figured I'd share some of those now.
All of those are species of Acropora, and all of them are very, very different. It's a pretty exciting feeling when you watch these things grow and show signs of being healthy... it's almost like being able to play God.
Yep, I'm a freaking nerd. And yep, I love it so, so much. I guess it explains why about 70% of my pay goes to keeping 'em...
