it's on.
PDX is pretty cool. In a sense, it's a microcosm because it is mostly liberal allowing many different people and ideas to flourish on their own. But it is sort of small. Voltaire grew to hate it for various reasons. Lack of sun/abundance of rain at times. Too few things to do, places to go - once you've been here a little while you've seen and done just about everything. I think that is a reasonable complaint, especially from people who have lived in bigger cities. Portland's nightlife is pretty low-key. But, many fall in love with the attitudes and the smallishness and the green. If SGHQ was still here, it would have been nice for you to make it out for the 2nd anniversary party.
Apparently the restaurant we ate at has been there for many years. But, as the migrant population has increased, we are seeing more and more hole-in-the-wall Mexican places, many of which are quite good. And some of the carts on the sidewalk downtown are supposed to be very good as well - all ethnicities. However, I'm living vicariously through my friend K on that - she works down there and tells me about them.
