I thought I would share part of a novella I have been penning.
Enjoy!

She stood there, eyes fixated piercing deep down into the depths of the other woman's soul. She had bonded her heart, her will, her being to this man and she had shunned her. Neil had told her the truth, perhaps in his own way he was protecting her fragile inner being by keeping this from her all this time. She had bottled so much anger, and resentment in her heart towards him that she knew there was no repairing that relationship. In truth, they both knew in this moment that if she stayed true to him and remained alongside in their unfortunate union after today they will know without having to speak the words that she did not love him, she never had, and even in the future she never will. She would never learn to love him. Certainly not to the lengths that either of them had wished for. Another unspoken truth they would both covet would be the fact that this is the moment that forever fractured his heart and left it in pieces. Never to be mended.
The shot pierced the silence in the room. Her gaze never dropped where her eyes had been glaring even though the woman's body know lied motionless on the floor. That final moment seemed to live on for ages before she dropped her extended arms so they both fell down to her side. The gun heavy in her right hand pulled her focus and she glanced down to its chrome before she cocked her head to the side and refocusing her gaze to his eyes. Her eyes did not give away her motive. Behind the silver specs of her tired eyes did not give the hint of rage, of pity, of confusion. Nothing. Inside she was wading through a seismic variety of emotion, while fleeting thoughts raced through her mind. Finally she came to her decision, and relinquished her death grip of the smith and Wesson.
"You said you would come." She repeated for the last time and the echo of the pistol hitting the hard marble floor she turned and paused. He did not utter a word, placed his fork and knife down next to his plate. There was nothing left for him to say the damage that was done could not be mitigated and would never change what had been done.
Neil moved a few paces back noticing how shallow each of his breathing was. She brushed passed him and she made the full one eighty and faced the door. She strode out of the doorway without even glancing his direction and straight down the corridor towards the open door that had been left open carelessly. She stepped out into the harsh unforgiving cold and trudge through the knee deep snow.
